Kanmo Group Delivers Seamless Omnichannel Experience with Anchanto OMS

Case Studies

Founded in 2005, Kanmo Group has established itself as a leader in Indonesia’s retail market. Since the last two decades, they have grown from a single retail store to managing over 300 outlets across the country. The group partners with global retail brands like Mothercare, Adidas, Coach, and Nespresso, serving tens of thousands of customers monthly across retail, wholesale, online, and travel retail channels.

With a portfolio of multiple world class brands across segments of Baby, Kids and Toys, Fashion, Footwear, Lifestyle and Distribution, the company sells across multiple channels and is working on their transformation as an omnichannel retail leader, offering customers seamless experiences both in-store and online. However, as Kanmo Group scaled their operations, they faced a few challenges in maintaining a smooth omnichannel experiences and operational efficiency.

    Challenges

As Kanmo Group grew its retail footprint, it became increasingly complex to manage their operations across multiple sales channels. The rapid expansion into both online and offline retail, alongside a diverse brand portfolio, brought several operational hurdles. Key challenges faced by the company included:

    1. Omnichannel limitation

Given their online and offline retail business, Kanmo Group planned to launch an omnichannel set up. With an O2O business model in place, the company aimed to meet instant delivery requests. Unfortunately, poor inventory and order visibility across their online and offline channels limited their omnichannel capabilities for faster delivery.

    2. Multichannel inconsistency

Ensuring their brands’ messaging, inventory information, and pricing were consistent across all sales touchpoints, including online marketplaces and webstores was difficult for Kanmo’s team. For them to be a successful omnichannel group, Kanmo had to make sure they had the right information flowing across different parts of their retail ecosystem. That way consumers at different touchpoints would see the standardized and accurate product descriptions, images, and other data. Unfortunately, as their product information was handled manually across their sales channels, maintaining accuracy and the correct flow of information was tough.

    3. Unscalable and fragmented order management

Given Kanmo’s growth, their existing system posed restrictions to their scalability. As they couldn’t keep up with maintaining the API integrations and related technical aspects between their technology stack and online sales channels, they had a hard time processing large order volumes. A lack of proper integration meant that the orders coming from sales channels like Tokopedia, Shopee, Lazada, Zalora, TikTok, and Blibli were not managed centrally, leaving Kanmo open to the challenge of fulfillment delays, errors, and unnecessary costs.

    4. Inefficient catalog management

A lack of seamless sales platform integrations also resulted in catalog management difficulties for Kanmo Group. Their team had to update product catalogs manually, one-by-one, through the backend of each marketplace that they sell on. While updating product information, images, or prices, Kanmo Gorup had to manually log into each marketplace’s backend. This was time-consuming and led to the risk of errors.

    5. Inaccurate inventory availability

Without scalable integrations to support the flow of information from their backend to marketplaces and vice versa about inventory quantities, Kanmo had to dedicate an entire team towards this task. This left them open to overselling as inventory quantities couldn’t be updated in real-time. Managing multichannel operations in this way required significant manpower, limiting the company’s ability to focus on other business-critical functions.

    6. Limited control over promotion management

Running promotion campaigns across marketplaces was another time-consuming process for Kanmo that required manual intervention. This was especially true when adjusting pricing or allocating stock for marketplace-specific promotions. For example, if there were specific promotions for certain products on a marketplace, like Shopee, Kanmo had to set aside inventory for this purpose, which was challenging to manage manually.

    Implementation

After much assessment and determining where they wanted to focus their resources and attention, Kanmo Group decided to invest in a technology solution that would solve all their e-commerce problems in one go. In 2021, the company partnered with Anchanto, selecting their Order Management System (OMS) to address the complexity of their operations. Anchanto Order Management offered seamless integration with Kanmo’s sales channels, inventory management, ERP, and business intelligence systems, ensuring real-time data synchronization across their multi-channel retail ecosystem.

Anchanto’s OMS empowered Kanmo Group by centralizing key functions. At the same time, the SaaS technology company struck a vital chord with the retail giant.

    Solutions

Anchanto’s Order Management software provided Kanmo Group with solutions that helped overcome their operational challenges. Primarily, the software empowered Kanmo Group by centralizing key functions. Upon doing so, they were able to achieve the following results:

    1. Omnichannel visibility

With Anchanto OMS, Kanmo Group gained real-time visibility over inventory levels across all locations—both online and offline. This transparency allowed them to efficiently track stock across their warehouses and stores. Anchanto’s OMS offers advanced order routing capabilities which enabled Kanmo Group to automatically allocate orders to the nearest location with available stock. This shortened their delivery time and met the growing demand forfaster delivery.

    2. Unified and consistent multichannel experience

To ensure they have the same information flowing across different parts of our online retail ecosystem for the consumer at different touchpoints Kanmo uses Anchanto OMS. With the help of the system’s catalog management module, the retailer can push the same product information across all of their sales channels automatically.

    3. Supported scalability

Anchanto Order Management offers Kanmo Group ready integrations with its marketplace, webstore, and social commerce sales channels. These integrations are maintained by Anchanto to ensure uninterrupted flow of information from online sales platforms to Kanmo’s technology stack. So, irrespective of the number of orders they receive across each sales channel, Kanmo can be certain that they will receive all order information accurately and in real time.

This has enabled swift and efficient order fulfillment as the OMS automates order processing. Today, instead of requiring an entire team for marketplace management, only a few staff members now handle these processes for Kanmo, vastly improving efficiency.

    4. Better inventory management

Anchanto’s OMS technology ensures real-time synchronization of inventory across marketplaces and Kanmo’s inventory management platform. That way, accurate stock updates are available across the board reducing the risk of overselling, particularly during promotions. Moreover, the retailers can offer their clients correct stock counts and inventory statuses whenever required.

    5. Improved catalog management

With the catalog management module of the OMS, Kanmo no longer has to be manually updated on each of their marketplace listings. Changes are now made from a single platform and applied across multiple channels, improving accuracy and saving time. The software allows them to upload new product listings, update product information, prices, and more across multiple or individual sales channels from a single platform.

    6. Controlled inventory allocation during promotions

Through Anchanto’s OMS, Kanmo no longer manages their promotions manually. The OMS supports their promotional campaigns by allocating the desired inventory to specific marketplaces. At the same time, it offers them control over pricing changes directly from the central system. This limits the need for manual intervention and inventory segregation at the warehouse.

Kanmo Group’s partnership with Anchanto has been instrumental in driving the retailer’s omnichannel success. The alignment of shared visions—focused on providing the best customer experience—has allowed Kanmo to scale its operations efficiently while maintaining consistency across all sales channels. Anchanto OMS’s robust capabilities have empowered Kanmo to focus on their core business, knowing they have a technology partner committed to their long-term growth.
